Four-One-One

WHEN someone asks you to give a 411, the one question that will form into your mind is "What the heck is that?" Maybe then, as an internet newbie around three years ago, that was the same question that I got from an E-pal way back the States.

At first, being asked for a 4-1-1 during those times when the number of people using the Internet in our country was relatively not that high as it is now. Back then, I would normally detest these kinds of people who would do so, as in "Hey there! Your 411," even to the point that I would give in to pressure that I seized the occassion to ask one of my e-mail buddies based in the States (she's a Fil-Am) what in this darned world is a four-one-one?

And, in a split second, she simply replied that it is an introduction of yourself. She even gave me the exact equivalent of the numbers (four, one and one, as in one-four-three translated into "I Love You"). However, owing to how long time flies, I also forgot the equivalent of 4-1-1.

And let me seize this opportunity to tell you guys who I am. I who has created a website which will chronicle my viewpoints, perceptions, rants, raves and even my suggestions about the world we live in...

I am Rey Refran, and I have already spent 20 summers in this planet. I shall be turning 21 this coming March 5, the 64th day of the millenium (in numerology, that's 4x 16, my favorite number, although I don't believe that much in that crap). I am still a student, a senior taking up Bachelor of Science in Social Sciences (majoring in Area Studies) in the University of the Philippines Manila, which is just a stone's throw away from some of the historic sites of one of the Philippines' oldest cities, Manila. As for the date of my graduation (finally!), I would not tell you for now. But hopefully, I would like to have it this sem for me to be able to march along with my batchmates and at the same time pursue my plans of taking up a masteral course in journalism in University of the Philippines Diliman.

What about my tastes, if you may ask? Well, I have a variety of those. I have some things that I like most, some activities I do the most, some shows (and even movies!) that I like watching the most (I'm a self-confessed couch potato, lalo na kapag nasa bahay ako na merong keybol tibi), the kinds of music that I listen the most and even the nonsense stuff that I crave for the most. For some, I may not be the ordinary kind of person that they would think (I got that from a friend with whom I talked to over the phone last night), but I am still down-to-earth that I consider myself as an ordinary person, hindi naman mayabang pero meron ding mga kasamaan on my part. Maybe in the next few articles of mine that I would exclusively create in this category, you would know more about me. Or, if you are already in a hurry to know more about me, you can click this link on the way to my capsulized info on my old website (thank God, I didn't know that this is till up and running, although I did this around two years ago. However, I will transport and update that info of mine to be included in this new site that I am hosting).
